Ecovast International 2018 Annual Assembly

 

Dear Colleagues, ECOVAST members across Europe!
It is our great honour to cordially invite you to participate on Annual Assembly of ECOVAST International which will take place in Croatia this October. In 2018 the Croatian section of ECOVAST celebrates 25 years of continuous work and we are looking forward celebrating this important milestone with all of you!
We have scheduled two days of activities, including conference, field study tour and Annual Meeting in a baroque 18th century castle.
The event will take place on 12th and 13th October 2018 in Bistra Municipality, small rural and suburban community, easily reachable from Zagreb. Bistra is famous for its tradition of rural wooden houses and low-lying location within Nature park Medvednica mountain (1035 m/abs) near Zagreb. By organizing our event and conference dedicated to eco-muesum in Bistra we will actively support local community in its wish to open its own museum.

There will be an organized 1 hour transfer of all international participants without their own car from the hotel Laguna to Bistra Municipality on 12th October at 8:30 and return transfer in the evening. Any participants staying in other accommodation will have the opportunity to join the organized transfer by coming to hotel Laguna in the morning.

Draft schedule

Thursday 11th October*

Proposed arrival of international participants to Zagreb with guided city tour in the late afternoon/evening
*For participants wishing to arrive on Friday 12th we suggest coming directly to Bistra Municipality. Arrival is easy and simple by car coming from direction of Slovenia since Bistra is near the motorway exit “Zaprešić on the A2 motorway. (See map below.) Upon leaving the motorway just follow the signs for “Bistra”. Public transport by bus from Zagreb to Bistra is also possible – contact us for details.

Friday 12th October
8:30 – Organized 1 hour transfer of international participants from hotel in Zagreb to Bistra Municipality (25 km)
10:00 – Conference on Role of Eco-Museums in Development of Local Rural Communities*
14:00 – Lunch
16:00 – 17:00 – Visit to nearby Oršić Castle in Bistra Municipality
17:30 – General Assembly of ECOVAST INTERNATIONAL
Dinner
Organized transfer of international participants to hotel in Zagreb
*International participants having direct experience with eco-museums in their countries are invited to send us an abstract in English (max. 400 words) by 20th September and prepare 15 min. power point presentation.

Saturday 13th October
Full day field study tour to Hrvatsko Zagorje, Varaždin Podravina and Međimurje
Participants will be collected in the hotel by tourist bus. Lunch will be provided in the traditional restaurant / tourist farm. Return to the hotel in the evening.
Filed study tour will take place in typical rural areas of NW Croatia, consisting of numerous villages and small towns in predominantly hilly landscape. (See map below.) We will visit selected examples of community museums dedicated to preservation of cultural heritage and identity of the region. Detailed information will be available soon.

There is no participation fee for ECOVAST International members participating on the Conference and field study tour which includes lunches on both days, bus transportation and entrance to museums. Small surcharge might be needed for the dinner on 12th October.
